Easy Accessorizing for the Living Room
January 4, 2018
While your living room has many decorative features, nothing stands out more than your sofa. After all, it is one of the largest decorative elements in the room where you can relax or entertain. If you have quality furniture, you have a great canvas to work with when it comes to sofa décor.
From decorative throw pillows to couch end tables, the way you decide to style your couch can make an impact on the overall cohesiveness of the space. Typically, redecorating your sofa is a budget-friendly way to get a new look. Let's get styling!
Before you start buying all new products for your sofa, pay attention to the color. The best couches to decorate are ones in a neutral color, however, that doesn't mean that brighter hues can't look beautiful. Snap a photo or two of your sofa to reference when you shop at the store. It might be a good idea to take a few photos in a different light, so you'll know if the décor fits at all times of the day.
Gray sofas are very trendy right now as the hot neutral. Gray sofas work well with bright and bold colors.
For those with brown sofas, you can mix and match! Dark brown sofas work great against lighter color neutrals. The perfect choice if you already have a colorful accent like a rug or drapes.
When it comes to decorating your couch, can one really have enough decorative pillows? With so many shapes and sizes available, you can really let your unique style shine. However, a good rule of thumb is to always stick with an odd number. Another great tip for the perfect decorative pillow combination is to vary the sets of sizes. Your largest pillows should rest closest to the sofa arms, working inward. A pillow that pops in the middle is a great touch to add, if possible.
If space allows, a small sofa end table can add to the look and function of the space. It's the perfect place to put a cup of coffee or decorate with flowers. The sofa side table should be the height of the couch as it sits next to the arm. Keep it simple. Smaller, narrow side tables work best here. Decorate with a vase or small tray, like how you would with a coffee table.
