Folk Artist Spotlight - Jesus Guerrero Santos

September 4, 2013

La Fuente Imports is honored to present the creations of Master Artisan Jesus Guerrero Santos, one of the most respected artists of contemporary Mexican ceramics, and whose works can be viewed in fine galleries and art museums throughout the world. Jesus Guerrero Santos is a Mexican national treasure. His enormous talent in the field of fine ceramics has led to his repeated selection as the creator of honorary gifts for visiting dignitaries including Pope John Paul II on both of his trips to Mexico, as well as creating the altar for Pope Benedict XVI's Guanajuato visit in 2012. In the fall of 2002 he presented commemorative gifts to all heads of state attending the Pacific Rim Conference in Baja, California. This included the prime ministers and presidents of Australia, Canada, China, Japan, Russia, and the United States among 15 others. Presently his artwork is displayed in numerous national museums around the globe, as well as the Vatican, and even on the main altar of St. Peter's Basilica in Rome.

The production of Santos' ceramics is as carefully thought out as his classical design concepts. Although the forms are made by hand, the size, shape, and thickness of each item is consistent. Santos also paints each item by hand, ultimately kiln-firing them at a very high temperature to create a strong and durable finish. His unique finishes are a secret blend of ingredients that are carefully chosen, and which Santos has only shared with his sons Adrian and Pablo Guerrero Castellanos, who have since created their own successful ceramics business following a more contemporary vein. After firing, the pieces are adorned with alpaca to create stunning and classical final designs.

Each item featured in our web store is a one-of-a-kind original, never to be reproduced. Furthermore, to assure 100% customer satisfaction, each piece of Mexican Art is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity signed by Santos himself.

Purchasing a piece of Jesus Guerrero Santos' art is an astute investment certain to appreciate in value over time! Browse the Master Artisan's artwork here today.
