Spice Up Your Space With Orange!

October 8, 2013

Whether a rusty tone or fresh tangerine hue, orange will spice up and energize any room it is used in. Paint a wall in a show-stopping orange or simply start with finding some orange home accents which energize you. Whatever your comfort level is, decorating with the color orange is guaranteed to brighten your home.

"It's one of the zippiest colors," says San Francisco interior designer Kimberly Ayres. In order to not overwhelm the room, we suggest you keep balance in mind. If you paint the walls bright orange then balance the rest of the space with neutrals. If you have neutral walls then adds lots of orange accents distributed throughout the room.

We're proud to offer a variety of orange home accents including a few favorites listed below:

Oaxacan Woodcarving by Zeny Fuentes – A whimsical Orange Frog by Zeny Fuentes is a fun and affordable piece of hand-made Oaxacan art. Sr. Fuentes carefully hand-carved the frog from wood of the copal tree and then hand-painted the figure in stunning detail with a very steady hand and brilliant acrylic colors.

Zapotec Weaving - The Zapotec rugs and weavings available from La Fuente Imports were chosen for the strength of their weave, quality of the dyes, complexity of design, and overall expression of warmth and cultural spirit. Every rug is loomed in the weaver's home, not in a factory, and will last many years longer than commercially-made Mexican rugs because they contain 20-30% more wool. Whether used as a floor covering or for display on your wall, these colorful and durable Zapotec rugs will compliment any southwestern or rustic décor beautifully.

Brilliant Carrot Solid Color Talavera Tile - Infuse the spirit of the Southwest into your home with these beautifully handcrafted Talavera tiles! An eye-catching accent in kitchens and baths, decorative ceramic tiles are also perfect for covering the risers on a staircase or the walls of a patio. Left-over tiles make excellent coasters and trivets.

Huichol Yarn Painting - These beautiful, one-of-a-kind yarn paintings were made by pressing thin strands of acrylic yarn into natural beeswax spread over a wooden board. Yarn art is made in limited quantities by the Huichol and Tepehuano Indians of southwestern Mexico. On the back of each painting is a description of the work, written in Spanish by artist Felix Bautista Ramos.

Talavera Planter - Talavera planters feature wonderfully intricate floral patterns that will look great with your plants, indoors or out! The ceramic of these Talavera planters is hand-painted in Dolores Hidalgo, Mexico, and embodies all the classic charm of Mexican Talavera. Available in several shapes and sizes, all Talavera planters also feature a convenient drain hole. Let the bright colors and your plants breathe life back into your home decor!
