Jesus Guerrero Santos
Jesus Guerrero Santos is a Mexican national treasure. His enormous talent in the field of fine ceramics has led to his repeated selection as the creator of honorary gifts for visiting dignitaries including Pope John Paul II on both of his trips to Mexico, and in the fall of 2002 he presented commemorative gifts to all heads of state attending the Pacific Rim Conference in Baja, California. This included the prime ministers of Australia, Canada, China, Japan, Russia, and the United States among 15 others. Presently his artwork is displayed in numerous national museums around the globe, as well as the Vatican, and even on the main altar of St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome.

Born and living in the state of Jalisco, Santos studied architecture, philosophy, and humanities as a young man, but for the past fifteen years has devoted himself to studying the history of glazed ceramics from the sixteenth century to the present. His work has evolved over this time period to include beautifully designed and hand painted ceramics adorned with alpaca, a balanced mixture of silver, copper, and nickel.

The production of Santos’ ceramics is as carefully thought out as his classical design concepts. Although the forms are made by hand, the size, shape, and thickness of each item is consistent. Santos also paints each item by hand, ultimately kiln-firing them at a very high temperature to create a strong and durable finish. His unique finishes are a secret blend of ingredients that are carefully chosen, and which Santos has only shared with his sons Adrian and Pablo Guerrero Castellanos, who have since created their own successful ceramics business following a more contemporary vein. After firing, the pieces are adorned with alpaca to create stunning and classical final designs.

La Fuente Imports is honored to present the creations of Master Artisan Jesus Guerrero Santos, one of the most honored and respected artists of contemporary Mexican ceramics, and whose works can be viewed in fine galleries and art museums throughout the world. Each item featured on these web pages is a one-of-a-kind original, never to be reproduced, and will undoubtedly increase in value over the years. Futhermore, to assure 100% customer satisfaction, each piece is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity signed by Santos himself.
