Description
This colorful jaguar mask by artist Zeny Fuentes makes an eye-catching and affordable entry into the magical world of Oaxacan wood carving! The process begins by delicately carving the jaguar's head from the wood of the Copal tree. After carving and sanding, the wooden figure is hand painted in striking designs and vibrant colors. The end result is a singular example of modern Mexican folk art that will add an artist's touch to any space in your home.
Zeny Fuentes is a native Zapotec and fourth generation woodcarver from the village of San Martin, Oaxaca. He started carving and painting when he was seven years old. Zeny works alongside his wife Reyna and their two oldest children, and together they create many of the most memorable Oaxacan wood carvings today.
