Behind the Design
Maximize a Room with a Sustainable Mirror
July 6, 2017
No matter where you put one, mirrors are an easy way to reflect light, make a space look bigger, and open a room. Handmade in Mexico, our Southwest Copper Mirror frames feature exceptional construction, new-world design, and the eye catching allure of hammered copper! Following construction of a wooden under-frame, discarded copper is re-forged and hand-hammered into spectacular sheets of natural beauty. The rich colors of red, brown, orange and black are all fired directly into the re-purposed copper. As the colors are random and not controllable, every mirror frame is truly unique. Also of critical importance, the copper that covers these frames is evenly hammered at the optimal depth and spacing for preservation of the copper finish over time.
Designer Andreea Avram Rusu states that "there are never rules when it comes to decorating with mirrors. Mirrors bring light and depth into rooms, they're like decorative windows you can move around and place as you like."
If you prefer silver over gold then consider our Silver Barrotes Mirror which combines antique wood with eye-catching metals insets. By using only aged, reclaimed wood from local abandoned haciendas, hand-hammered metal sheets and 12 striking finish colors, these mirrors will add extra pop to any room in your home! Each is handmade in the style of old-world craftsmen to produce warm and welcoming furniture that is solidly built to last a lifetime.
Since the wood is reclaimed only from old and abandoned haciendas. This reduces pressure on local forest resources and promotes a sustainable usage cycle. The reclaimed wood is then milled and graded, fumigated and dried, and then stained. The unique texture of the wood comes from decades of natural weathering, and is the basis for this stunning line of rustic furniture. Not only beautiful but eco-friendly for years of enjoyment in your home!
