Mexican Interior Design is Rich

Strictly speaking, in terms of interior design, the Mexican style is very rich and full of tiny details that are easy to recognize. Mexican homes are characterized by the warm and welcoming ambiance and intricate interior décor elements. In order to be able to capture the essence of this culture in your home, you must first get a clear idea of what really defines the style.

Be aware that this interior design style encompasses much more than symbols such as the chili peppers and the big hats. The look incorporates elements from the Spanish missionaries and conquistadors who came to colonize this area of the Americas with elements from the native tribes living in what is now Mexico, including the Aztecs and the Mayans. This blending of Spanish European architecture and native tribal culture led to some of the most beautiful and colorful art and décor found anywhere in the world.

Use hand-painted Talavera tiles around the house and use their ornate designs to add character to your staircases, kitchen backsplash and more. They're an awesome source of themed beauty, excellent for capturing the essence of this style and culture.

If you want your home to be serene and tranquil, then don't count on this being the right style for you. The Mexican color palette includes rich tones and vibrant shades of both warm and cold colors. Red, orange, blue and green are just a few of the colors you can expect to find in a Mexican-style homes and they're almost always all combined through patterns.

Mexican-style furniture has a very rustic appearance. Commonly constructed from pine, mesquite, reclaimed wood and wrought iron. Typically made from old timber varieties Mexican furniture show a clear influence of Spanish and Mayan styles. One can opt for Colonial era influence furniture items that insinuate elegance of form with sturdy structural credentials. The items like chairs and Mexican Tables can be further embellished with elaborate ornamentation, colorful cushions and fabrics, lustrous patinas and even special hand-rubbed antique finish.
