Rustic Dining Tables Bring Natural Warmth

September 22, 2010

As the long, warm summer days transition to shorter, cooler days of autumn, homeowners turn to redecorating projects at home in search of a cozy getaway. With dinners on the patio becoming fewer and farther between, meals begin taking place at the kitchen table or in the dining room; making these areas of the home an ideal place for a decorating touch-up.

Adding warmer colors, window coverings, and rugs are simple ways to make rooms feel cozy and keep feet warm from the cold hardwood or marble floors. The addition of rugs on cold hard flooring is a simple way to bring warmth and can easily be moved when the warmer months return in the spring.

We all know guests are not going to congregate around a rug on the floor, no matter how inviting it may be. Adding a rustic dining table and chairs is an easy, warm, and inviting fix, and will surely bring family and friends together. Rustic furniture, because of its warm stains and solid wood construction, is inviting and charming.

During cooler months, adding a table runner and Talavera bowl filled with pinecones to your rustic dining table will add both color and style. Table runners are also easily removable for dining and during warmer months exchange the Talavera bowl for a vase with brightly colored flowers.

Much like dressing up the dining table with a runner during cooler months, adding cushions to rustic dining chairs is an easy way to make them more inviting while adding your special decorating touch. Cushions can also be changed throughout the year to give seasonal inspiration to the room's décor and removed during warm months to reveal the wood seat.

While the addition of a rustic dining table and chairs might seem simple, the warm stains and charming grain of the wood will surely become the focal point of the dining area. These simple rustic design ideas are sure to make a more inviting space for family and friends to congregate.
