4 Tips for Setting Up a Balcony Garden
March 10, 2019
So, you have decided to set up a balcony garden but have no idea where to start? No fret, just follow these tips and trick to set up a little green corner, right in your balcony!
1.) Set a Budget
Before you start, it is important to set a budget. Setting up a balcony can get a little pricey if you skip this part. Yes, you only need a few garden planters and some other stuff, here and there, but that does not excuse you from setting a budget. The best approach is to make a budget for your balcony garden and stick to it!
2. Check out the Environment
Don’t forget to do a little research before heading out to buy your refreshing green plants. How many hours of sunshine does your balcony get? How windy can it get out there? What direction does your balcony face? It is advisable to be aware of such environmental factors in order to pick suitable plants for your garden.
3.) It’s All About Spacing
Haphazardly placing flower pots in a small balcony can easily give it a clustered look. It is important to plan your garden in a way that enables you to make more out of less space. Opt for climbing plants to cover vertical spaces or let them twirl around the balcony railing to add a mystical touch. You can also use hanging pots to add greenery without taking up space.
4.) Caring for your Plants
This is an obvious one. You cannot expect your balcony garden to grow and flourish without proper care. Make sure you know the water requirement of your plants. If you live in tropics or your balcony faces south or west, you may have to water your plants more often. Also, never overlook the importance of using pesticides and fertilizers.
