Change your Decor with Flip of a Switch
November 23, 2017
As time has evolved, so has the function of interior lighting. Gone are the days when one light illuminated the entire room. Homeowners expect more from their lighting systems and oftentimes, only want to light a small section or area of a room. That is where modern lighting comes into play.
Lighting fixtures let homeowners change the feel and scheme of the room with the flip of a switch. Modern lighting styles are minimalistic, simple and functional. Designers would describe modern lights as chic and uncluttered with a chrome or steel finish. Some have unusual designs that can create a focal point for any room.
The most common style of lighting falls in the classic section. Elaborate crystals or handcrafted chandeliers can act as a centerpiece for any room, no matter how big or small.
Rustic light fixtures, which of course, are great for homes surrounded by wood, brick or stone. Much like modern light fixtures, they are designed with a simplistic frame of thought and they focus on function more than design. Nevertheless, as we have iterated in other aspects of the home, no homeowner should sacrifice one for the other.
Rustic light fixtures are common in dens or other living areas, but don't look as aesthetically pleasing in kitchens or bathrooms. However, if you love the look of wood, try it out and let us know what you think.
No one can transform a home with the flip of a switch. But, with careful research and an eye for smart design, the eager homeowner can in fact change the feel and aroma of any room with the right light fixture.
