Order Your Day of the Dead Crafts Today

October 2, 2014

Now is the perfect time to order Day of the Dead Arts and Crafts for your kids or loved ones. La Fuente Imports offers some fun selections that everyone in the family will want to play with.

Traditions connected with the holiday include building private altars called ofrendas, honoring the deceased using sugar skulls, marigolds, and the favorite foods and beverages of the departed, and visiting graves with these as gifts. They also leave possessions of the deceased.

Sugar skulls are a traditional folk art from Mexico used in Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebrations. Part of the festive decorations, the Sugar Skulls are painted with brightly colored icing and can even be decorated with sequins, glitters and colored foils. Homemade sugar skulls are also great for Halloween parties!

The basic ingredients for sugar skulls are: Granulated sugar, Meringue powder, water, and cardboard squares for backing. Besides a simple frosting, you can use decorations such as sequins, glitters and colored foils. Detailed instructions for decorating your new creations are included with every order!

Once you've selected your favorite sugar molds, don't forget to order our Complete Sugar Skulls Decorating Kit that bundles the essentials to easily create lasting and beautiful sugar skulls. The kit includes an 8-ounce jar of Meringue powder for creating both your sugar skulls and the royal icing. Jars of concentrated food color pastes are included as well as icing bags and zip ties. You'll have everything you need to decorate your new sugar skulls.

One of our favorite ways to add festive symbols to almost anything are the Day of the Day of the Dead Rubber Stamps available in our store. Each rubber stamp is created with an easy-grip wooden back that makes them perfect for decorating Halloween cards or posters. They are also a great little gift idea.
