Handmade Furniture vs. Factory Manufactured Furniture
February 27, 2019
Like every other form of handmade art, handmade furniture has also made a comeback but is it really any better than that manufactured in factories? It just might be!
When it comes to shopping for furniture, there are really just 3 factors to keep in mind – Quality, Cost and Design! Let’s have a look at how these factors can help you decide between handmade and factory manufactured furniture.
1.) Quality
With handmade furniture, you cannot be sure about the quality and finishing of the goods until you inspect the finished products yourself. On the other hand, factories have to comply with certain safety and quality standards, making it easy to trust their mass productions.
Keep in mind that this does not mean that factory manufactured furniture is always of better quality. In fact, in most cases, the craftsmen are experts and produce furniture that usually surpasses factory manufactured articles in design and quality.
2.) Cost
One of the most obvious benefits of handmade furniture is that you can personalize it, but it comes with a catch – the price will be higher. Since handmade products are unique and offer you an opportunity to personalize your goods, it is logical that they cost more.
On the other hand, factory manufactured furniture lacks individuality but it is easily available and is a lot cheaper. While to a number of people, handmade furniture seems excessive and even luxurious, a lot of people still go for it. In the end, it really comes down to your budget and priorities.
3. ) Design
The range of styles and designs offered by factory manufactured furniture is vast, but it is still not inexhaustible. On the other hand, your options with handmade furniture are limitless!
In short, choose handmade goods if you are willing to pay a little more for customization. But if the price tag bothers you, just pick something chic from those vast catalogs.
