Do's and Don'ts of Decorating a Living Room
March 27, 2019
The living room is the most important part of the house. This is where the family, close friends, and acquaintances hang out. Hence, it is imperative that it is decorated stylishly. Here are some do’s and don’ts of how you should decorate your living room:
Do
Make the Furniture Blend with the Theme of the House
The theme of your interior décor should match the aesthetics of your house. If you have a contemporary designed house, then your furniture should be sleek, chic and modern as well. Alternately, if your house has a rustic and wooden theme, then get similar furniture.
Don’t
Go Matchy-Matchy
It is important to follow a certain theme for your interiors, but having everything matchy-matchy is also a big no-no. A healthy contrast of sorts is always the best way to go. So let’s say if you have some rustic furniture, you can add in a contemporary accessory, such as a painting or a lamp, to it so that there is a healthy fusion to your décor.
Do
Add in Some Color
If you are using neutral tones for your living room, which is always a safe bet, make sure to add in a pop of color to the furnishing, such as colorful rugs, bright colored lamps, vases and cushions. They give the room a healthy balance and it won’t look bland.
Don’t
Place All the Furniture Against the Walls
Give your walls some breathing space and don’t try to stack everything together against it to make your room look bigger. You can add in statement mirrors to give the room the illusion of extra space.
