Choosing the Right Cushions for Your Couch
January 7, 2019
How hard can it be to choose the right cushions, right? But it is important to realize that the secret to decorating a picture perfect room lies in the little details.
Correct cushion placement happens to be one those little details that shouldn’t be ignored. So, if you aim to decorate a lively, aesthetically appealing room, it’s wise to put in a little thought when it comes to arranging those cushions on your couch.
Picking the Right Cushions
First of all, it is important to choose the right size. A set of cushions that are too big or too small can end up looking comical. But the good news is that you can always mix around different sizes to create the perfect look.
Secondly, pick the right colors. One easy way of choosing the base color is to match it with the biggest 'effect' in the room. This 'effect’ could be anything that catches the most attention in the room. For example, you can match your cushions to that wall painting or the center rug.
Keep in mind that nowadays, throw pillows are seen as a way of adding color to your décor. So, don’t hesitate to pick multi-colored cushions.
The next thing you need to pay attention to is the texture. From frill to fur, cushions (and/or cushion covers) come in a variety of textures. It is up to you to pick the ones that look the most appealing. You can create an artsy look by mixing a few textures or setting up layers of different types of cushions.
Cushion Arrangements
Finally, it’s time to arrange the cushions on your couch. One trending cushion arrangement style is ‘layering’. You can start by creating a bold colored base and layer it up with cushions of varying sizes and colors. Aim for a balanced symmetry and stick to odd numbers of cushions to come up with the best look. Or you can play it safe by going for plain but bold cushions that make a statement for themselves.
So, are you ready to revamp your lounge by tweaking up those cushions on your couch?
